Arsenic, like its counterparts from the fifth group of the periodic system created by D. I. Mendeleev, is a biofunctional
element. Unlike phosphorus and nitrogen, arsenic has more pronounced toxic properties. Inorganic compounds of trivalent
arsenic, arsine AsH3 and its derivatives, for example, halides, oxides, sulfides and other compounds, are highly toxic.
Along with this, there are low-toxic substances among the organic derivatives of pentavalent arsenic. Some of them,
possessing certain therapeutic properties, are used in medicine, some substances are used in the agro-industrial sector, in
various industries. In recent years, an interest in research in the field of arsenicorganic compounds has increased in
connection with the development of anticarcinogenic drugs. In this regard, research in the field of the synthesis of arsenic
derivatives is of great theoretical and practical interest. This article provides a brief overview of methods for the synthesis
of arylarsonic acids containing a specific set of substituents in the benzene ring. The advantages and disadvantages of the
synthesis methods described in the literature are analyzed. The most practical version of the synthesis of these acids has
been proposed, which has been improved and recommended for use.
