Investigating the Dimensions of Patient Safety Indices

Abstract

Background: Implementation of patient safety standards, requirements that are vital for the implementation of patient
safety in hospitals. In this regard, the assessment of patient safety indicators to identify and analyze the current status of
these weaknesses can be an important step in advancing the process. The purpose of this study was to systematically
review the patient safety indices using the experts in this field.
Methods: Searching for data was performed using the keywords of safety indices, patient safety, patient safety. The
databases were Iranian Medical Science Database [Iran Medex], Pub Med, Mag Iran Scientific Database [SID], Scopus.
The search of the above mentioned database was carried out from July to September 2019. Results 62 indicators of patient
safety in the eight main indicators of hospital safety index associated with the delivery parameters associated with the
surgery, indicators of mortality, indicators related to infection control measures associated with medication errors and
prescribing indicators fall other indicators in particular, were classified.
Conclusions: Most of the 14 indicators in the categories of surgical index and the lowest category, the index is associated
with the fall of the index. Due to the importance of indicators of patient safety, the use of these indicators in order to
identify, monitor and compare the events related to patient safety in health centers, improving patient safety, improve
service quality and increase patient satisfaction makes possible.
