An Approach on Elderly Population Quality Life Based on Sources of Income

Abstract

Elderly population is believed to increase from 12 % in 2015 to 22% in 2050 and majority of them belong to lower and
middle income countries. Though life expectancy has increased, the increased disease burden and poor quality of life
remains. Cross- sectional study undertaken in the meadow repetition area of the RHC, Poonjeri, Kancheepuram District,
Tamil Nadu between June 2015 – September 2016. 337 persons aged 60 years and over were particular by multi stage
random sample. Data was composed by family to family survey using a pre tested structured questionnaire. This research
work focuses to determine the morbidity pattern of elderly population based on the income sources in rural area of Tamil
Nadu.
