Abstract

Thyroid hormone is very indispensable for not only the expansion but also functioning of cochlea. In addition to other
systems, the acoustic system is very delicate to thyroid hormone. Hypothyroidism causes mild to severe degree of
sensorineural hearing loss leading to auditory dysfunction. The objectives of the study were to measure the prevalence of
hearing impairment among hypothyroid patients and assess the hearing loss via audiometric tests among these patients.
