Abstract

Generally a variety of analytical methods have been used for the detection of toxic ions. However these methods are costly,
time consuming and need sophisticated instruments. Hence a rapid, simple and fast recognition of toxic ions is of
increasing demand. Recently, Colorimetric sensors have gained the attention of the researchers, owing to its features such
as recognition by naked eye, low cost, portable, easy accessibility etc. In this review, colorimetric detection of toxic metal
ion [Chromium] by nanoparticles is elaborately discussed. Herein, we review the detection of chromium ions through their
coordination with nanoparticle stabilizers. The visible sensing mechanism of nanoparticles behind each colorimetric
sensing is explained. We also discussed the future concepts of the colorimetric nanosensor based tools.
